Book Reviews

Review: One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies

I read this book when I was a tween. And I remember loving it. Recently I decided to start buying some of the books that I had loved when I was a tween ( I know I know I am on a book buying ban and I am still honoring it ) and that includes all the books that Soyna Sones wrote. If you are a fan of Ellen Hopkins I think you will love Soyna Sones as well.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is written in verse so it was a quick read. In fact I read in a day. This story follows Ruby after her mother passes as she is sent of to meet her biological father for the first time. Turns out her father is a famous actor. And she hates him.

This book is about family and coming together as one. I love this story. I had actually forgot the ending from when I had read it previously and it came as a shock to me. I kinda predicted the ending but kept thinking that maybe I was wrong and so the ending was a great conclusion to this story. If you are looking for a fast read I highly recommended diving into this book.

To Be Read

Goal #1 for 2015

judyblume

In 2015 I want to re-read my favorite childhood author Judy Blume and continue her adult books for the first time. I know I have way more than this pile of Judy Blume books but I cannot find them in my basement so I will be buying a few box sets of Judy Blume’s next year so I can read her books. Plus I need to buy her adult books because I only own one as of right now. What was your childhood favorite author?

Read-a-thons, To Be Read

Cram-a-thon TBR

cramathon

Here is my TBR for the Cram-a-thon. I hope to defiantly be able to cram these all in. 4 of them are re-reads but I haven’t read them since middle school and wanted to start the series again so I hope to cram them in now so that next year I can get the next books in the series and continue them. What are you planning on reading for the cram-a-thon?

Wrap Up's

November Wrap Up

novwrapup

This month I finished 6 books. Overall I am really happy with the books I read this month. I read a lot of wonderful books!

First I read Immortal Hearts by Ellen Schreiber. This is the final book in the Vampire Kisses series. I gave this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I wasn’t satisfied with the ending of this series. I found in this book and the one before it Raven wasn’t acting her age. She came off as annoying. And I feel like the scene I have been waiting for throughout this series happened really fast. Overall I liked this series but the last two books weren’t my favorite.

Next I finally got to read Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi and I loved it! I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this book and I think it is one of my favorite books that I have read this year!

Another awesome book that I read this month was Dark Days by Kate Ormand. This is a fast dystopian book that I believe is a stand alone. It was definitely worth the read. I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars and also have a full review up that you can find here.

Next I read Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi and oh my god guys! This book gave me all the feels! This is the second book in the Shatter Me series and I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Next I read The Young Elites by Marie Lu. This is a new series by Marie Lu. It was slow at the start and there is a lot of back story but I absolutely loved this book and can not wait for the next one! I gave this book a 5 out of 5 stars and also have a full review up that you can read here.

Finally I read The Invention of Hugo Cabret. This book is huge but didn’t take long to read. The illustrations are so beautiful and I loved the story which gave me all the feels! I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars and have a full review up here.
